Melyssa Hubbard returns to blogging

At one time Hoosiers For Fair Taxation was read daily by many people.  If you check the archives, there's a lot here, including documentation of the history changing four month period when a small band of Indiana tax activists changed political history.

I abandoned the blog for many reasons.  Partly because I was busy writing and producing my first book, Spanking City Hall.   (Yep, I have another book up my sleeve about Indianapolis)

I have a lot on my mind about culture, freedom and politics and am returning to be a dedicated blogger again.
I won't be blogging here, but at IndianaTeaParty.com and I hope you'll follow my new blog and feel free to offer input.

About a year ago, I wrote a prophetic post about the coming culture war between religious freedom and anti-discrimination that would ultimately play out in Indiana.

I'm profoundly proud of Indiana's citizens and my employer, Angie's list, for being on the right side of this cultural battle.   May God Bless ALL of Indiana's citizens and I hope you'll read and share my blog often.

Melyssa Hubbard is the author of Spanking City Hall, the true story of how a professional dominatrix founded the Indiana Tea Party as a non-partisan movement and won America's first national Tea Party Prize.  She is the founder of IndianaTeaParty.com

Spanks for the Love Indy!

Melyssa Hubbard, author of Spanking City Hall
Chapter One free pdf
The love and support I've received for writing Spanking City Hall is overwhelming sometimes. You put wind in my self-actualization sails and helped me land some exciting engagements, including an invitation to be the breakfast speaker at this year's National Libertarian Convention in June . . .  a huge honor.  They are hoping I can rouse people to the conference early.  I aim to knock it out of the park for them.

Yesterday  was surreal!  I signed books at the Indy Farmer's market on Market Street in front of City Hall.  Both Mayor Greg Ballard and his chief of staff, Ryan Vaughn have signed copies now.

If you've found time to read it yet, please personally reach out to me.  I would love to know your thoughts, maybe even get together for coffee or a drink.

My ultimate aim is to illustrate self-actualization through fear liberation and to influence culture further in that direction.

By tolerance and non-judgment of our fellow humans as they authentically travel their unique journeys, we aid in the self-actualization of individuals.  Can you imagine a future when  ALL people self-actualize?  How great would that be?

A secondary aim is to advance the actualization of the City of Indianapolis by giving the world a story that shows Indy as the colorful and hip place it truly is to live and visit by contributing to our vibrant cultural arts.

I believe by influencing and changing culture, policy follows.

As an avid user of line reviews, I get their awesome power to influence browsers to become buyers.   So far, I received solid critical praise, eight terrific Amazon reviews, and lots of Facebook and Twitter mentions, but need hundreds, if not thousands.  Can you imagine the influence the book can have if every person who read it, left a review or took a selfie reading it, then posted it in social media?

Would you be so kind to help my story grow stronger legs by writing a review?   I need them here:

That said, I am very much a fan of Governor Pence as he was one of the first in Congress to stand up against banker bailouts.   I was so proud of his representation of Indiana at that time.

Spanking City Hall -- Close to launch

Melyssa Hubbard, author

The rewrites are going well and we have a complete manuscript.

I changed my last name to Hubbard, my grandmother's maiden name.  I did so because the name Donaghy is not my father, but is the name of a man to whom my mother was once married.

I apologize that Spanking City Hall is taking longer than anticipated.  Part of the delay was caused by writing the difficult and esoteric Diana Mythology.   When I looked at my story as a whole I realized my truth is one of following coincidences that led from adventure to adventure.  In the end, my journey culminated into a mystical understanding of Miss InDiana, also known as Miss Victory, depicted in bronze atop Monument Circle.

I used Diana's archetype energy to fight as a female knight.  That's why I chose her image for this blog when I created it in 2007.  In those days, while fighting persecution in the media and courts from Peterson's administration for being a dominatrix,  I had little to hold on to for strength.  I visited the monument daily to meditate on the power of her torch symbolizing enlightenment and her sword symbolizing justice.  It was her archetype's energy that gave me courage to stand up, fight, and ultimately prevail in my battles with government.   The government is authored to be submissive and I had to own my role as a dominant and teach how to do the same to fellow citizens.

The book's ending takes the reader into the mysticism of Diana, Goddess of In-DIANA-polis.

We are mere days from being ready to offer presale orders of signed first editions.   A launch party will be held at The Chatterbox on Mass Ave with the popular band Tonos Triad , attended by many of the characters from the book. I am planning to give author readings at bookstores as well.

An ebook and Kindle edition will be released next year when physical hardbacks are in bookstores.   All first edition copies will be signed upon request.

If you would like me to give a reading at your club or party, please email

Spanking City Hall -- book update

I am happy to report that the Spanking City Hall manuscript is now complete.  My editor and  I are in final editing stages which will take several more weeks.   We are beginning work now on the website and media to promote the book nationally.   We think we can have physical copies ready in January.

I'm very happy with the content, especially the parts that delve into Indy's cultural arts history which I witnessed and played a small role in here and there.

Some of you may know that I have an obsession with Miss Victory -- aka Miss InDiana -- a top the Soliders and Sailors Monument.  It took a month to write and edit, but I wrote Diana's Mythology which details my personal experience with the energy from her powerful archetype and I how I used her strength.   I am most proud of 'The Diana Mythology' which serves as the book's epilogue.

We wrote with an emphasis on economy of words, so it is a page turner and easy to digest.  The content is outrageous in places and entertaining throughout.    We promise a very fun read detailing a more than ordinary history of our great city.

Your memories of Property Tax Revolts and Indiana Tea Party

I am finally finishing the last part of the book -- at least the chronology -- with my editor.   Most of the book is about my life as a dominatrix, why I did what I did, and what I learned about D/s.

The end of the book is about my political activism in creating and leading the first Indiana Tea Parties, and getting them televised, two years before the national movement.   I love throwing parties on TV.

I am hoping those of you who were there with me as participants in the revolts would contact me with any anecdotes you would like to possibly see in my book, Spanking City Hall.   A lot happened that summer and it is hard to remember absolutely everything.

Best,
Melyssa Donaghy

"Spanking City Hall" (my blogging hiatus explained)

"SPANKING CITY HALL"

I looked at my blog today and realized I stopped writing on December 26th.  That was the day my book spontaneously began to gush from my keyboard.

I resigned my employment on February 22nd in order to complete the manuscript and release 2,500 first edition hardbacks in July 2013.  (IBJ Publishing)  There will also be an e-book.

Chapter One describes how I forced an Indianapolis Police Department vice-cop to crawl on the floor, kiss my feet, and other juicy details from his session with me.  The memoir recreates an entire decade of my life including the years I spent as a dominatrix and why my whacky career came into being.

The final chapter playfully details the manner in which I openly used the skill of D/s (Dominance/submission) in the political arena to fight the city's lawsuit against me, my behind-the-scenes orchestration of a mayoral upset, and the creation and leadership of Indiana's property tax revolts and tea parties of 2007.

It is finally time to share the particulars of my mystical ride through it all. 50 Shades of Grey lifted the lid off the D/s box for mainstream audiences. I think folks are ready to know my unique tale.

I am collaborating on the project with journalist/editor, John Hausen.

Christmas Flash Mob at The Mall (awesome!!!)

This will make you feel so good.

Innocents Betrayed - The True Story of Gun Control WorldWide - (Graphic ...

In this powerful documentary produced by Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership
(http://jpfo.org), you will learn how governments have historically deprived people of firearms ... and then wiped them from the face of the earth.

This is the true story of Gun control from around the world, especially in the 20th century. It details how governments have ALWAYS BEEN the biggest threat to the safety, security and prosperity of the people. While Americans can see how this could happen in other countries, most can't EVER imaging it being able to happen here because there are so many rights guaranteed by the constitution. But that ONLY when the people STAND UP for those rights, because it's the nature of government to constantly try and TAKE them away from us.

The producers of this film encourage copies of this film to be distributed as far and wide as possible, with the understanding that this permission is granted ONLY for non-commercial use.

Our forefathers, weary of the oppressive measures that King George III's government forced upon them, in common declared their independence from England in 1776. They were not expected to be successful in that resistance. The moneyed people had backed England for two major reasons. First, our forefathers wanted a rigid, written Constitution "set in concrete."

"No Free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms," wrote Thomas Jefferson.

"Americans have the right and advantage of being armed — unlike the citizens of other countries whose governments are afraid to trust the people with arms," argued James Madison.

As Thomas Jefferson said "Experience has shown that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted into tyranny".

Mother's against GMO's give Cheerios Facebook a piece of their minds!

 Screen capture taken from cheeseslave.com

Cheerios, and pretty much every other American cereal company, is using GMO grains in their products.   Europe and other countries, especially Asia, banned GMO's.

Recently Cheerios developed a Facebook ap to let consumers give them compliments on what Cheerio's has meant to them.

Instead of kudos, they received mostly Facebook messages like this one from a mother:
"I used to feed Cheerios to my first child all the time. Now that I am better educated on GMOs, I am DISGUSTED at the fact that I was naive enough to believe that at the time I was actually feeding her something healthy. I know much better now, and will never again let another Cheerios pass my children’s lips until they are GMO-free."
It's times like this that I love Facebook.
